070708

by jimmy on July 7, 2008

One year back, on a chilly evening on top of the Victorian Peak in Hong Kong, at a rather romantic location but made not so by crowds of tourists from the Mainland, I proposed to the girlF, by sneakily sliding the ring (she chose) into her finger while I whispered into her ears — “will you marry me” — I think that was what I whispered. And me being lacking one bit of romantic bone in me, didn’t do it on bended knees, but hey, there were too many people around us for me to do that.

But yes, on 070707, we decided to move on to the next and important chapter of our lives. One which had just started, 1 year on, and one which we will always love and cherish for as long as we are alive.

On a related note, yes, the engagement was on 070707 but the wedding won’t be on 080808, though it will really make anniversaries easier to remember. But no, its in the midst of qi yue (hungry ghost month), which is not exactly auspicious. And just for the record, our “getting-together” anniversary is New Year’s Eve… ;)

So guys, pick your “auspicious” dates so that in future, when your grey matter starts to disappear, at least those anniversaries won’t be forgotten!

Can’t remember when I popped the question, but my wedding anniversary is on Sarah’s birthday. Can just get away with one present. But if I forget, I get double the trouble. Congrats again..

i didn’t realise that our engagement anniversaries are just one month apart! he chose our date based on the new Boeing aeroplane my company had just announced orders for at that time (B787-900)….cos he thought i super love aeroplanes.
