Sent this to the ST Forum after last night’s debacle.
Many fans heeded the call of the FAS and the Lions to support them when they play against the Uzbekistan for the World Cup Qualifying at the National Stadium. After the euphoria of the 3-0 win over the Lebanese, many were hoping for an upset against the Asian giants. To our dismay, many of us were left wondering what transpired under the famous lights of the National Stadium as we waited for almost 45 minutes at the East entrance, waiting to get the tickets to support our Lions.
Taking the results aside, many, including myself was disappointed with the lack of organisation done by the FAS to cater for the crowd. Especially as the game is played on a weekday, many turned up after work, almost at kick-off time. There were no railings to control the flow of the crowd, causing massive chaotic scenes as fans try to find the shortest route to the turnstile. Neither were there ushers to explain or direct the fans to allow quicker movement into the stadium.
We paid S$8 each to watch 45 minutes of football, and three goals although it was a 3-7 scoreline. Will FAS be willing to compensate us for missing out on the 5 goals we missed out? Will the fans still bother to turn up for the next match against the Saudis if we have to wait 45 minutes to get into the Stadium? Will the Lions lose out on their 12th member?
Wonder whether this will go through.
update: no didn’t get through.
