foursquare Specials in Singapore

Some of you might be wondering what’s the point of Foursquare besides telling your friends where you are, grabbing the Mayorship of a certain place or learning about new places. In the US where this social-networking game started, Mayors of certain locations are rewarded – like free beer or discounts in your purchase. Not for Singapore, until now.

Here are a list of locations that had started giving rewards for local Foursquare players:

Brewerkz (at Stadium Walk, Bukit Timah and Merchant Road) – Check-in with tips & any purchase to get free fries/onion rings. Mayor – 1st pint of beer free (once a day) with any purchase. 50th visit $50 voucher
The Garden Slug – Free soup-of-the-day (cup size) for the Mayor during each visit (limited to once per day, offer good until TGS’ discretion to end it).
kichn – 10% off* for food & drinks if you found us from foursquare (*does not include retail items)
Standing Sushi Bar at OUB Centre – 2 free pieces of salmon nigiri or tuna nigiri (mayor’s choice!) for the Mayor during each visit (limited to once per day, offer good until owner’s discretion to end it).
Istanbul Gourmet – Free Drink every 2nd checkin! Just show that you’ve checked in on Foursquare!

iPhone 3GS – the missing jigsaw

For a Mac geek like me – having waited two long years to get my hands on the iPhone, it is a surprised to myself that I still yet to own one myself.

I know many out there who were on the same boat as myself (Starhub customers) had decided that the wait for them to bring the iPhone was too long and too painful and had made the switch to SingTel. Somehow, the plans offered by SingTel and the savings I am getting from Starhub made it unwise to do so.

Couple of weeks back, I received a call from Starhub asking whether I was still interested to stay in-the-loop for any updates from Starhub with regards to the iPhone…of course! However, odds are they won’t be bringing them in anytime soon.

But in the mean time, here’s my plan: Barter trade!

Yep – anyone out there who is on SingTel mobile plan who is planning to get a new phone BUT not the iPhone, let me know. I can get your phone with my Starhub contract, while you get the iPhone 3GS, for me…and top-up from either side depending on the amount spent. Sounds fair?

Clubbing for Cause

Fancy clubbing and still doing your part for charity? Called “Clubbing for Cause (CFC)”, this new initiative aims to get people to club and at the same time, drive the proceeds back to a selected charity with this month being “Guide Dogs Foundation For the Blind”.

On 16 July, Butter Factory will be hosting the first of the CFC events featuring DJ ANDREW T. Tickets at S$12 which you can buy from the CFC website or get at the door.

Go have some fun and at the same time, help out the Association that uses the fund raised to train new guide dogs and assists the blind to build a profound strong relationship with their dogs.

I was part of that PinkDot today

Went to support everyone who was at Hong Lim Park for the PinkDot.SG event which ended on a high note with the photo-taking of the pink dot in the middle of the park from Furama Hotel.

Though it was meant to support LGBT population in Singapore, I think it was a love-fest for all Singaporeans – a freedom to love for all.

Took some photos there (as usual) and they can be seen at my Flickr site.
